Author’s Log: NaNoWriMo 2023 Day 5

Day 5 of NaNoWriMo, and I broke 10,000 words, and I'm officially two days ahead in word count!

Today was a day of multiple writing sessions adding up to get my word count for the day. I did some writing before I went to bed, then some when I got up, then a little before church, and then a lot after. But I managed to not only hit the 1,667-word goal, but I wrote enough to get myself two days ahead in word count, which feels great. I love having the wiggle room to slack off if things come up during the month.

I was also able to come up with a Rhyme that tells the Legend of the Crown of the Seasons, which is the artifact that my main characters, Arabella and Gray, are searching for in the first book in this series. It not only took up almost 200 words of the words that I needed to write today, but it ended up giving me a sort of outline to follow throughout the rest of the novel as it tells me what I need to happen at each point of gathering the crown pieces. It's literally a checklist of what needs to happen, and I can use this to refine my outline in Notion.

Overall, today was a really good writing day.

How do you feel about Your Work? : Great! I ended up writing a lot and coming up with an outline for the Fun and Games Beat of my story, which will make me stress less later.
