Stargazer Reading Challenge

Sometimes I wish I lived in the country to stargaze and find constellations in the sky. One day, I'll be able to go stargazing. For now, I’ll read through the constellations and I implore you to join me.

If you use Notion, I have made a full template for you to use and track your reading through this challenge at your own pace. You can track it by the Constellation Family or have it in Alphabetical Order, whatever works best for you:

Before we get to the constellation families, I made a prompt for the man who named most of the constellations:

Claudius Ptolemy - Read a Book that takes place in the Past (Not in a Contemporary or Futuristic Setting)

I just had to give him a nod. Next are the constellation families, these families were made either according to the region of the sky they share or by the mythology story that some of the constellations represent.


Ursa Major

Named for the Residence in the Northern Sky with the Constellation, Ursa Major, which contains the North Star.

  • Coma Berenices “Berenice’s Hair” - Read a Mythology Retelling

  • Camelopardalis the Giraffe - Read the Tallest Book You Own

  • Lynx the Lynx - Read a Book with Eyes on the Cover

Zodiac

Named for containing all twelve of the Zodiac Constellations

  • Pisces the Fishes - Read a Book in an Interconnected Standalone Series

  • Aries the Ram - Read a TBR Veteran

  • Taurus the Bull - Read a Hyped Book

  • Gemini the Twins - Read a Book in a Duology

  • Cancer the Crab - Read a Book with a Crabby Protagonist

  • Leo the Lion - Finish a Series

  • Virgo the Virgin - Read a Standalone

  • Libra the Scales - Flip a Coin to Pick Between Two Books

  • Scorpius the Scorpion - Read a Book that has Three “Ss” in the Title

Contains Most of the Constellations that deal with the "Perseus" Myth from Greek Mythology

  • Cepheus the King - Read a Book featuring Royalty

  • Andromeda the Princess - Read a Book with a Protagonist that people underestimate

Named for containing a large amount of constellations in the Western Hemisphere near the "Hercules" constellation

  • Aquila the Eagle - Read a Book with any Type of Bird in the Title

Heavenly Waters

Named for the Constellations association with Water

  • Delphinus the Dolphin - Read a Book that features Sea Creatures

  • Equuleus the Little Horse - Read a Book with a Horse on the Cover

  • Eridanus the River - Read a Book that takes place near a Body of Water

  • Piscis Austrinus the Southern Fish - Read a Book with a Fish on the Cover

  • Pyxis The Mariner’s Compass - Read a Book with a Direction in the Title

  • Columba the Dove - Read a Book with White on the Cover

  • Argo Navis The Ship Argo (This Constellation was later split into Three Parts) - Read a Book that takes place on a Ship

Bayer

Named for Johannus Bayer, who charted and named many of these Southern Constellations after exotic animals

  • Volans The Flying Fish - Read a Book with Wings on the Cover

  • Apus the Bird of Paradise - Read a Book that takes place in a Jungle Setting

  • Telescopium the Telescope - Read a Book that takes place in the Past or Future

  • Microscopium the Microscope - Read a Science Fiction or a Book with Science in it

  • Sculptor the Sculptor - Read a Book where the Main Character makes Something

  • Fornax the Furnace - Read a Book with Fire on the Cover or in the Title

  • Caelum the Chisel - Read a Book with two “Cs” in the Title

  • Horologium the Clock - Read a Book with a Clock on the Cover
